Wake Up And Smell The Bacon…App [VIDEO]
Oscar Mayer, the company well-known for their hot dogs (which have a very catchy song), has announced the creation of a brand new app for iPhone users.
To many people, the sounds and smells of a hearty breakfast is what it takes to wake up. Usually the sizzling sounds and aroma of bacon is the primarily detail people associate breakfast to…well before they eat it. If bacon is powerful to make even the grumpiest morning people wake up, why not turn it into an alarm?
USA Today reported on this earlier, and even said it is best invention since sliced bread. The new iOS app is a major overhaul of the start screen with bacon themes. It also includes a plug-in dongle that is filled with a liquid omitting the fragrance of freshly cooked bacon. The tiny accessory slides into the headphone jack of an iOS product where it will be paired with the free companion app from the iTunes store. All one needs to do is to set the alarm. When it goes off, one shall be greeted with the sizzle and smell of bacon.
On another report by Mashable, Tom Bick, the senior director of integrated marketing and advertising at Oscar Mayer, said this in a statement about the app, officially known as the “Wake Up And Smell The Bacon” app:
With nearly two million mentions of #bacon on Instagram, it seems people never get tired of bacon. That’s why our team decided to develop a device to give folks what they long for most. As the category leader, Oscar Mayer is thrilled to bring the first-ever, bacon-scented mobile device to market, giving bacon aficionados a new reason to welcome their morning alarm clocks.
This app is getting the full-show treatment since it is the latest invention out of the Oscar Meyer Institute for the Advancement of Bacon, which is a “consortium of the world’s greatest bacon minds dedicated to unlocking the bacon’s deepest mysteries for the benefit of bacon lovers everywhere.” It also received an awesome advertisement video, which is included here in this article.
Unfortunately, the only people who’ll be able to get this app, are the ones who win by sheer luck. A limited number of these devices will be made, and will not be for sale in the open market. In order to get a shot, fans must go to Oscar Meyer‘s website and attempt a quiz. Once completed, the person will be entered to win one of the plug-in dongles, which is necessary for the full experience. They will also include one refill for the dongle.
This app may be the gimmick that Apple needs to get back on top with sales. Reported earlier here on The Inquisitr, Android products now outsell iOS products. Still, it is amazing, just by itself, that someone is able to make an app that utilizes not just sound, but probably the first time, smell…and it smells like bacon.
