‘Sin City: A Dame To Kill For’ Trailer Releases [VIDEO]
Robert Rodriguez’s new trailer for “Sin City: A Dame to Kill” is out today!
Just from viewing the trailer, which first appeared on Yahoo Movies, the stylized black and white with specified highlights is again utilized within this magnum opera of violence, gore, and sexuality. Classic characters return from the first movie including John Hartigan (Bruce Willis), Marv (Mickey Rourke), and everyone’s favorite bookworm/stripper, Nancy (Jessica Alba). There are also some new faces that join the cast, some doing so to replace cast members from the original. New cast members include Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Johnny and Eva Green as “The Dame to Kill For” herself, Ava Lord. Jamie Chung replaces Devon Aoki for the role of Miho while Josh Brolin replaces Clive Owen for the role of Dwight McCarthy. Unfortunately, the role of Manute is played by Denis Haysbert due to Michael Clarke Duncan’s passing.
The Hollywood Reporter included some more extra details along with the trailer. The part that is most interesting is that Gordon-Levitt’s “The Long, Bad Night” was one of two stories written especially for the movie. Just from that statement alone, there is another exclusive story that hasn’t been shown in the trailer. However, after some research, the second original story involves Nancy’s coping with Hartigan’s suicide.
One of the major reasons this movie can include certain characters from the first film is it isn’t exactly a sequel in prospects to time. “A Dame to Kill For” is the second graphic novel in the official series, but the events happen before “A Hard Goodbye”, which was heavily featured in the first movie. Another story that is verified for this film is “Just Another Saturday Night”. This may be why Bruce Willis is playing the role of John Hartigan again since that story centers around what Marv did after Nancy left with Hartigan from the bar in the story, “That Yellow Bastard”.
There is so much to adhere to pertaining to this upcoming flick. In the first movie, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller combined “The Hard Goodbye”, “The Big Fat Kill”, and “That Yellow Bastard” into one film. Just from released details, it looks like they are combining stories again.
Also as a teaser, there is a short trailer for Rodriguez’s new series, “From Dusk Till Dawn”, which is based on the movie starring Salma Hayek, which was previously reported here on The Inquisitr.
“Sin City: A Dame to Kill For” is scheduled for release on August 22, 2014.
