Bejeweled 3 Coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS

PopCap announced today plans to distribute their latest form of digital crack, Bejeweled 3, on “all major gaming platforms” in North America and Europe — in other words, Bejeweled 3 is coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo DS.

Fans will be able to sink hours and hours of their time into matching three or more jewels on their platform of choice when it launches sometime around Q4 2011.

“Critics agree that ‘Bejeweled 3’ raised the standard for match-3 games to new heights,” Ed Allard, studio head at PopCap Games, said in a statement. “This holiday, we’re bringing that experience to PlayStation 3, PSN, Xbox 360, Xbox LIVE, and Nintendo DS gamers with adaptations that look great and play even better on each platform.”

For the uninitiated, Bejeweled 3 offers “twice” the amount of modes found in Bejeweled 2, in addition to eight new game modes and a sound and graphics overhaul. As an added feature, Bejeweled 3 forces you to neglect all of your responsibilities, opting for just one more round of match-three goodness. Well, that last bit isn’t actually a feature, but it isn’t any less true.
