Sarah Michelle Gellar Joins David Boreanaz For Informal ‘Buffy’ Reunion
Sarah Michelle Gellar stopped by the set of Bones recently to check on old pal David Boreanaz, a moment that certainly must have pleased many the Buffy enthusiast.
The nostalgia was flowing heartily for fans of Gellar and her iconic role on Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Sarah Michelle and her former on-screen love interest decided to treat their many adoring fans with a photograph of the meeting, which included Boreanaz’s current Bones flame Emily Deschanel.
Gellar tweeted the super cool photo shortly thereafter:

This photo no doubt sent legions of Gellar fans through the roof. Sarah Michelle is still best known for her portrayal of ‘Buffy’ on the classic show, which has managed to sustain a rabid cult following after all these years. The combination of Gellar and Boreanez together in the same shot could not help but conjure images of the pair together in the old days as ‘Buffy’ and ‘Angel’.
Fans have long help out hope of a possible feature length film based on the old show. Gellar has expressed her interest in this idea on numerous occasions in the past, and mentioned just last year that she has discussed this very possibility with Buffy creator Joss Whedon.
Of course, the series itself was originally based on the 1992 film of the same name starring Kristy Swanson as ‘Buffy’. The film was fairly pedestrian and quickly forgotten, but it did inspire the television series, which developed a loyal following and was generally well received critically.
Regarding the prospects of a film based on the television version of Buffy, Sarah Michelle has said she would entertain the notion if a quality story were conceived. While the original film did not perform particularly well, many believe that a new film involving Gellar and the beloved cast of the television version would be a great idea.
Gellar recently took to Reddit for one of their ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions, and naturally the topic of Buffy was broached repeatedly. Among other things, Sarah Michelle was asked about the scent of former co-star Boreanaz. Gellar answered diplomatically:
“I can say that David honestly smells very good and continues to smell very good,” Gellar joked. “I apologize to Jamie his wife for answering that question.”
Gellar can currently be seen on the CBS comedy The Crazy Ones opposite Robin Williams, but fans will continue to hope Sarah Michelle one day reprises her role as ‘Buffy’ in a feature film.
