Kate Mara Admits That She’s Obsessed With Chapstick

Kate Mara, the House of Cards star who is celebrating her 31st birthday today, spoke to E!Online at the The Daily Front Row Fashion and Hollywood Luncheon at Cecconi’s Restaurant in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

When she was asked about her beauty regime she made a couple of very enlightening revelations as to how she stays looking so young. Firstly Kata Mara discussed moisturizer, a vital component in any successful beauty regime.

“I love Orlane moisturizer. I think it’s amazing,” offering advice that most people would have thought obvious, Kate added: “Always clean your face before you go to bed,” Don’t most people?

But above all Kate revealed that there is one cosmetic item which she herself is more than a little obsessed with, chapstick, saying that it’s the one thing that she gets freaked out about if she forgets it.

“I’ve been searching for the perfect kind of chapstick and constantly switching and looking for new ones. If I don’t have my chapstick with me, that’s the one thing I freak out about,” she said.

When she was asked recently by People magazine why she was gradually changing her hair color to a blonder look she answered that as well as being asked to do so for a movie there was also another reason:

“I was just ready to not be, this sounds really cheesy, but I didn’t want to be defined by my hair color. My hair has always been crazy long and I was just ready to let that go,” she revealed.

Beauty tips aside, Kate Mara was also asked by reporters about who she fancies to win at the upcoming Oscars. She decided to respond very diplomatically, as one should, saying: “I don’t have one specific movie this year. Which is weird, because I always have some sort of favorite!”
