Pippa Middleton: My Butt Is The Reason I Got Famous

Pippa Middleton owes much of her overnight celebrity to the now-famous bridesmaid gown she wore sister Kate’s 2011 royal wedding, and the famous sister is well aware of it.

The wedding was the biggest moment of the summer of 2011, and it helped launch the 30-year-old Pippa into an instant celebrity. In an interview this week, Pippa says much of that was due to her perfectly fitted dress… and how good her butt looked in it.

“As I have found out, recognition has its upside, its downside and — you may say — its backside,” Middleton said Tuesday at the Women in Advertising and Communications dinner in London.

Pippa Middleton admitted that McQueen gown “fitted,” adding that “in retrospect, it fitted a little too well.”

Pippa’s backside was so famous that it even inspired its own NSFW Facebook page, but since that moment Kate’s younger sister has milked her fame for all its worth. She has written a book called Celebrate, made a splash in the fashion world, and even served as a contributing editor to Vanity Fair.

But along the way, Pippa has seemed to struggle at times with how quickly she became famous.

“It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition… before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom,” she wrote back in 2012. “One day I might be able to make sense of this. In the meantime I think it’s fair to say that it has its upside and its downside.”

Pippa Middleton has run into some bumps along the way as well. Last year the royal family reportedly asked her to cut back on her public appearances as Kate was nearing the birth of her first child. Sources say the family was worried that Pippa could be opening herself and the family up to too much criticism.
