Xbox One Vs PS4: The Biggest Games Of 2014 Are Only On Xbone, Says Microsoft
The Xbox One vs PS4 console war continues to rage on, and it probably won’t stop until the next wave of consoles is announced. The latest blow against the PlayStation 4 is Microsoft stating that the biggest games of 2014 can only be played on the Xbone.
The actual statement came from Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle, who told a gaming publication:
“I’d say that Titanfall is a game that has won more than 80 awards so far. It’s incredibly hotly anticipated, and I believe it’s a game that people will buy an Xbox One in order to play. But moving forward, if you think about what I think are the three hottest games of the year to come – Titanfall, Watch Dogs and Destiny – the only place you’re going to be able to play all three of those games is on Xbox One.”
One factor that Harvey Eagle seems to be forgetting in his entry of the Xbox One vs PS4 debate is that the UK is seeing an Xbox One price drop along with the Titanfall bundle. The price was cut because in the UK, the PlayStation 4 is outselling the Xbone by nearly six times, a trend reflected on a smaller scale in the US, and the market shows a demand for a smaller price tag in order to compete.
Harvey Eagle certainly sidestepped the mistake of claiming the games he mentioned were Xbox One exclusives. Watch Dogs is also planned for the PlayStation 4. Titanfall was part of a marketing deal with EA to make it exclusive to Microsoft platforms, so EA and Respawn’s killer IP was intentionally set up to avoid the PS4. Destiny is from the people behind Halo, and Bungie has shown a loyalty to Microsoft from the beginning.

It’s debatable whether Destiny will be one of the biggest games this year, especially with the rumors surrounding Assassin’s Creed 5 (another game planned for both sides of the Xbox One vs PS4 battle) being the subject of hot debate.
After the announcement that Gears of War will now be owned exclusively by Microsoft, it was pointed out by the gamers themselves that Sony’s console still has numerous exclusives. inFamous: Second Son and Uncharted 4 will both be PlayStation exclusives, even though they both rely on the success of previous games to generate their appeal.
The fact remains that even though the games Harvey Eagle mentioned can mostly be played only on the Xbone, there are plenty of exclusives left for PlayStation 4 and several games available to both. Add this to the fact that out of gamers everywhere, most of them prefer the PlayStation 4, and it’s clear that the Xbox One vs PS4 debate is far from over.
