Elder Scrolls Online Beta Test This Weekend

Bethesda Softworks has announced that a large-scale public beta test for Elder Scrolls Online, it’s long awaited multiplayer installment of the incredibly popular Elder Scrolls Series. The Elder Scrolls Online Beta will take place this weekend.

The Escapist described what players can look forward to in Elder Scrolls Online, “You’ll be able to help test out the upcoming MMO that takes everything you love about The Elder Scrolls series and mashes it together into a massively multiplayer experience.” Fans of the Elder Scrolls series understand what an awesome prospect this is.

The deadline to get a beta code is Sunday, March 2. Don’t wait. Get your beta code as soon as possible. If you download the Elder Scrolls Online client ahead of time, you won’t be slamming your head in to a wall while all your friends are already playing. This beta event will run from from Friday, February 28, 12:00 pm ET to Sunday, March 3, 11:59 pm ET.

Bethesda is giving away an extremely large number of Elder Scrolls Online beta keys so they are probably trying to push their servers to the limit and test capacity. Be patient this weekend. Don’t judge the game and the connectivity too harshly. Expect possible connection issues, lag, and the usual online gaming shenanigans. If, on the other hand, we find that the game runs smoothly and the mechanics are seamless with crowded servers then we can let ourselves be extremely optimistic for the future of this game. If any readers get a chance to participate your comments about your experience would be appreciated.

I have been a fan of The Elder Scrolls for many years. My brother introduced me to the series with Morrowind on the original Xbox. There really wasn’t any other game like it at the time in regards to the shear size of the world and how completely open ended the gameplay is. Grand Theft Auto was one of the few games that came close. Now to see Bethesda come so far and improve and innovate their series with every installment is a pure thrill. I can’t wait to cast area of effect slow spells while my buddy dumps fireballs on your whole party. Oh, the humanity!

Elder Scrolls Online is set to launch the full game on April 11, 2014. This may be the last beta before the actual launch. My guess is that there will be one more smaller Beta to hammer out the final launch bugs.

I’ll see you on the field of battle in Elder Scrolls Online with mutual respect, despite friend or foe.
