Calvin Harris Wants To Keep Releasing Singles, New Album Still On The Way
Calvin Harris recently admitted that it could be a while before he drops a new album.
The DJ made a name for himself by releasing a series of singles not too long ago, a recipe he doesn’t plan to change anytime soon. Since you don’t refill the pool when you’re already swimming in success, Harris said he’s quite content dropping singles on the masses.
During his recent interview with the folks over at Capital FM, Calvin Harris admitted that his next album is still a few miles down the road. However, this doesn’t mean he doesn’t have a batch of new music ready for public consumption.
“So far I’m good at singles, I am, I can say that now I’ve got the proof. The next one, it’s taken a while, but I think it’s gonna be a good one. It’s taken a long time,” Calvin explained during a brief chat at the 2014 Brit Awards.
Harris’ latest release finds him joining forces with girlfriend Rita Ora. The track, “I Will Never Let you Down,” reportedly sounds like a cross between Whitney Houston and Pink.
“You know a lot of people assume that it’s dance music because I make dance music and that’s predominantly what I do but it isn’t. It sounds like Whitney Houston to me. 1987-89 Whitney Houston mixed with Pink,” Calvin Harris said.
He added, “I wrote the song with her in mind, I didn’t write the song for anyone else. It wasn’t just a song that was lying around. I think it really suits her. Sometimes I just write songs that don’t sound like me.”
If you were deeply worried that Harris and Ora’s relationship is currently headed down the romantic drain, then you should prepare for some extremely good news. According to the Fifty Shades of Grey star, her life with Calvin is nothing short of fantastic.
“It’s music to make you happy. It’s a good groove because I am honestly in a happy place right now,” Ora recently said regarding her collaboration with Harris.
She continued, “The Rimmell campaign comes out and I have my new single on the campaign — it’s basically time to blast you guys from all angles with my music.”
Unfortunately for hardcore Calvin Harris fanatics, a new album doesn’t appear to have a release date as of this writing. However, the DJ intends to keep churning out music one single at a time. Considering the album format is an archaic concept in this day and age, this isn’t altogether surprising.
