Burger King Employees Write Profanity On Receipt, Makes Grandmother Cry
Several employees at a Virginia Burger King restaurant thought that it would be comical to play a joke on an elderly woman, Lorel, and her daughter-in-law. Not only was the joke not funny, it left the grandmother in tears.
The two ladies placed their orders, and proceeded to look over their receipt. They then noticed that the employees had written b***h a** h**s as their customer name. Lorel, who chose not to reveal her last name, said that the profanity and name calling hurt her feelings, and made her cry.
“This is more than an insult. I mean calling you names on a piece of a paper, that will hurt somebody. I liked going there. But after this they won’t get my business anymore.”
Lorel immediately asked to speak to the manager of the Belt Boulevard Burger King. The manager offered an apology and then Burger King issued a statement to WTVR. “He did apologize. He also called the young lady over and asked her, ‘Did you see this?’ She just shook her head. He said it had never happened before,” Lorel said.
“At Burger King Corp. (BKC) we have great respect for all of our guests and customer service is a top priority every day at Burger King restaurants. BKC has recently been made aware of a photo that shows an alleged receipt from a franchisee-owned and operated restaurant that does not comply with our customer service policy. We are working with the franchisee, who is investigating the matter, to determine the origins of this photo.”
There is currently no word on the punishments that the employees will face. Franchise owner John Naparlo said that he would be looking at the surveillance videos to determine which employees were the culprits. “We are obviously upset by the harm this has caused one of our customers,” Naparlo said.
CBS 6 legal expert Todd Stone wanted to explain to people to speak up if they ever come across a situation like this one. “Big companies like Burger King don’t want this stuff coming out publicly, so there might be an incentive there for them to settle something with her,” Stone explained.
I feel it safe to say that the Belt Boulevard Burger King has lost Lorel’s business forever. She has made it clear that she will never return to that restaurant.
