Xbox One Price Drop In UK Could Eventually Spread To Other Regions

The Xbox One price drop in the UK could eventually lead to price drops elsewhere. We might not see it any time soon, but the factors prove it possible.

One of the possibly biggest reasons for the PlayStation 4 outselling the Xbox One in spite of its initial supply shortage was that Microsoft’s console was simply $100 more at its most basic package. Nobody wants to pay more for the same thing, and Sony knew it. Without opening the box, the uninformed consumer would see the lower PS4 price tag and immediately decide it’s a better buy. Those who know what they’re getting might react differently, but the sales records show the lower price tag to be among the winning factors.

The units sold of the Xbox One show the PlayStation 4 almost doubling the Xbox One sales in the US alone, and if the Titanfall bundle doesn’t change that factor, the UK might not be the only region seeing an Xbox One price drop.

The alleged reason for this in the UK is market pressure, with the PS4 sales showing six times as many units being sold in comparison with the Xbox One in just the past week. Limitations of PS4 in stock are obviously not the reason for this, or it would be a much more even tally in the Xbox One vs PS4 console war.

Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle has gone on record as saying there are “no announcements in other countries planned, so it’s a UK-only adjustment and we feel this is the right thing to do in our market.”

While this isn’t a direct confirmation for the future of Xbox One in other regions such as the US, you will notice he said there was nothing “planned,” and it was a result of “market” pressure. If the PS4 price tag was the biggest reason behind such a massive demand for an Xbox One price drop, given the sales records, the trend could spread easily to other regions where the Xbone is failing to compete.

Again, this could change when the Xbox One Titanfall bundle hits next month. Over two million beta testers have proven that the upcoming killer IP could be a game changer, potentially boosting the sales and turning the tide in the Xbox One vs PS4 console war. If Titanfall can’t change the trend, it could cause enough market pressure to force Microsoft into an Xbox One price drop in order to compete with the crowd favorite PlayStation 4 outside the UK.

We will most likely know in the second week of March.
