Erin Andrews Replacing Brooke Burke On Dancing With The Stars [Report]
Erin Andrews is the new Dancing With the Stars host, replacing Brooke Burke-Charvet.
“The paperwork is being finalized, but this is happening,” a source told US Weekly, about the DWTS hiring of the Fox sports reporter (who formerly worked at ESPN).
Over the weekend, Brooke Burke-Charvet announced, to her apparent surprise, that she was involuntarily leaving the ABC show. Brooke was co-hosting the show with Tom Bergeron from the 10th season until the most recent 17th season. She referred to it as a “pre-season elimination” on Twitter.
In a statement, she explained that “I have enjoyed seven seasons co-hosting DWTS but understand the need for change considering the position of the show at this juncture. I’ve always been one to embrace change and looking forward to pursuing opportunities I previously wasn’t able to entertain because of contractual obligations to the show. I’ve seen my fair share of shocking eliminations in the ballroom but this one takes the cake.”
Brooke Burke-Charvet competed in the seventh season of DWTS, while Erin Andrews was one of the cast members in season 10 (in 2010) with Maksim Chmerkovskiy and wound up in third place.
The new season of DWTS with Erin Andrews as co-host premieres on March 17.
In a separate statement, the DWTS executive producer said that “We can confirm that Brooke Burke-Charvet will not be joining us next season. She’s been a wonderful part of the Dancing with the Stars family since her triumphant win in season seven and will unquestionably be missed by our entire team. We’d like to thank Brooke for her years of great service.”
The show also recently fired its long-time music director and his band.
There has been as yet no official confirmation from ABC of the Erin Andrews DWTS hiring.
