Hulk Hogan: WrestleMania 30 Confirmed, But Will He Get A WWE Match?
Hulk Hogan’s WrestleMania 30 involvement has been confirmed, but after so many years away from the ring can the Hulk even fight in the WWE?
In a related report by The Inquisitr, CM Punk’s WrestleMania 30 return is rumored to be very likely even though some say Punk would be better off in the UFC.
Despite Hulk Hogan saying he’s going to “run wild” at WrestleMania 30, Vince McMahon’s official announcement didn’t say he would be involved in a fight. In fact, he’s only coming back to the WWE as a host:
“We are thrilled that Hulk Hogan has returned home to WWE. It’s fitting to have him help us celebrate 30 years of WrestleMania and usher in a new era with the launch of WWE Network.”
This is not much of a surprise since Hulk Hogan’s WWE return has been discussed for months. He’s even been spotted doing physical training in order to buff up for his WWE appearance. There’s also been talk of matches against “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and the Ultimate Warrior, but in truth he’s only likely to rip some shirts and disrupt the occasional match involving highlights like John Cena.
Even the Ultimate Warrior, who says he’s in “intense” physical condition at 54 years old, admits the “90s version of The Ultimate Warrior can’t be done. He’s my muse. I wake up every morning and I’m inspired by him, but trying to go back and bring him back 25 years later, there’s just no way.”
At this point the Hulk has reached age 60 and unfortunately time has been taking its toll on his body. Reports claim the WWE “made the call to not only not put him in a match, but not book anything physical involving him.” The last time Hulk Hogan wrestled was in 2012 for a house show for TNA, but reports call it “forgettable” at best. Another TMZ report from 2010 claims the Hulk ended up in the hospital due to aggravating old wrestling injuries and ripping a back muscle… because he was collecting seashells on the beach.
Because of such injuries he ended up in surgery for nine hours in order to have his spine straightened out. Ouch. So, needless to say, it’s unlikely Hulk Hogan can handle WrestleMania 30 match if his body falls apart due to beach walking. At the most we might expect him to slam some guys to the ground unexpectedly, but not take any major hits in return. What do you think?
