In March of last year, ex-Infinity Ward heads Jason West and Vince Zampella filed a lawsuit against Activision after being let go as the result of an internal investigation within Activision alleging the two breached their contract and violated company policy. A little over a year later, it looks like the lawsuit is finally going to trial.
According to The Hollywood Reporter , A Los Angeles Superior Court judge ruled Tuesday there is sufficient evidence to support allegations that Activision defrauded West and Zampella by firing them ahead of their royalty payments, reportedly upwards of $125 million worth.
After being laid off, West and Zampella quickly opened up a new studio, Respawn Entertainment, under EA’s banner. EA revealed at E3 that Respawn is working on a “sci-fi shooter” , but wouldn’t go into any details beyond that.
The case is expected to go to trial later this year or early next year. That gives you plenty of time to stock up on a whole lot of popcorn, because boy is this going to get nasty .
