‘The Voice’ Says Goodbye To Cee Lo Green
All of you The Voice fanatics, be prepared to say goodbye to one of your favorite coaches! Cee Lo Green has officially announced that he will not be joining the rest of the coaches on this season of The Voice.
During an interview on Wednesday’s episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cee Lo admitted to viewers that he will not be returning. “I’m not coming back, guys,” he revealed to DeGeneres. “I’m not coming back at all.”
I just don’t want to wear out my welcome there. You know what I’m saying? I have so many other things that I want to do.
So, what are those other things that he is planning on doing? Apparently, there is talk between Cee Lo and NBC about a new show, possibly a talk show, and he is planning on touring with Lionel Ritchie later this year. He will also be releasing a new album; his first in four years. “I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album,” Green said. “I didn’t mean to drop the bomb today.”
Even though Green says he will not be returning to his big red chair alongside coaches Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and Blake Shelton, he says that he will maintain a relationship with NBC.
I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss ‘The Voice’ too. So I’m not coming back guys….
While Green says that he made the decision to leave The Voice on his own, rumors are circulating that he chose to quit the show before he was fired for his recent run in with the law.
Back in October 2013, Cee Lo, whose real name is Thomas DeCarlo Callaway, pleaded not guilty to a felony charge. He was accused of slipping a woman, who he was dining with in Los Angeles, the drug ecstasy without her knowing. He was charged with furnishing a controlled substance, and if he was to be convicted, he could face up to four years in prison.
The sixth season of The Voice will premiere on NBC on February 24 at 8/7c. The Coaches returning to the show, in place of Cee Lo and Christina Aguilera, are Usher and Shakira, along with Levine and Shelton.
