A Ghostbuster LEGO set is set to release in June of 2014 and yes, the Ectomobile is included. LEGO pulled the big reveal at this week’s New York Toy Fair. And as convention goers got a look at the new set, they were not disappointed.

The Ghostbuster LEGO set will cost an affordable $49.99. It will feature the four paranormal activity detectives (or parapsychologists), Dr. Peter Venkman, Dr. Raymond Stantz, Dr. Egon Spengler, and Winston Zeddmore. The release date will be a 30 year anniversary celebration for the 80’s favorite comedy about ghosts, ectoplasm, and a weird parallel universe bent on destroying New York.

LEGO fans have been building their own sets for years, hoping that one day there would come an official mini figure collection to go with all of their own Ectomobile’s. Brent Walter, who’s designs won the affection of the block building company, said that the release of his own builds is a dream come true .

“As a child I would recreate Ghostbusters out of Lego. I had a very primitive Ecto-1, Ecto-1A and the Firehouse as well as all of the main characters with ‘Classic Space’ air-tanks for Proton Packs. As an adult rediscovering my love of Lego, recreating it now was a way of recapturing that unbridled creativity of my youth.”

As exciting as the Ghostbusters LEGO release is, some will be disappointed to discover that the firehouse is not included. Yet. When LEGO does something, they usually go all the way. It would not be surprising to see the Ghostbuster basecamp coming, or Slimer for that matter, soon as well.

Fans took to Twitter to squeal with excitement as they reflected on their youth and nostalgia, at such an affordable price.

While fans have been wishing for a Ghostbusters reboot for years , the chances of it actually happening are unclear. In the mean time, coming this Summer, fans can create their own remake. Most toy retailers will carry the product and of course they can be ordered from LEGO online.
