Ray Rice Arrested: Baltimore Ravens Running Back In Altercation With Fiancee
Ray Rice has been arrested in Atlantic City, with police claiming the Baltimore Ravens running back got into a physical altercation with his fiancee at a casino.
The alleged altercation took place at the Revel Casino, and though the nature of the fight was not known, an attorney for Rice said it was a “very minor physical altercation.”
“We haven’t seen any charging documents yet,” said Michael Diamondstein, a Philadelphia-based attorney hired to represent Rice. “There was an argument that included Ray. I can’t give any specifics because we haven’t seen the document yet.”
After Ray Rice was arrested the Ravens released a brief statement but did not mention if any disciplinary action could be ahead for the running back.
“We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancé,” the statement said. “We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.”
Ray Rice has been in the news before for police matters, though not of his own doing. Last year thieves broke into Rice’s Maryland home, stealing two guns and close to $2,000 in cash.
Baltimore County police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton said Rice was out of town, and the burglary was reported by a friend who was staying there at the time.
After the break-in, Rice released a statement saying: “My family and I are fine, which is the most important thing … This is an unfortunate incident that I am dealing with through the proper channels.”
Reports said the thief smashed a window in the back of Rice’s home and then “ransacked” the house before stealing the guns and money.
An attorney for Ray Rice said after he was arrested this week that police will investigate the incident and fin it was “little more than a misunderstanding.”
