George Clooney thinks America’s sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, drinks too much, as we learned during his recent Reddit AMA . Reddit, a public Internet message board that has topics on everything from fitness and health to adult My Little Pony fans, often has celebrity “Ask Me Anything” interviews, and Clooney decided to engage fans in a little one-on-one.
You know how when someone makes a joke, and you think that’s the end of it, but then they repeat the joke, and you wonder if they were actually being serious? Clooney began an answer about his “Gravity” costar, Bullock, with a comment about her so-called drinking problem. He then went on to speak poetically about how lovely she is, and how great it was to work with her. Then he added another jab about how while she drinks too much, she is just the most amazing person.
Bullock, he said, “drinks so much that oftentimes it’s just hard to keep her upright.” Then he talks about how long they’ve known each other, how fun and genuine Bullock is and how what you see is what you get, and then follows up with “[v]ery smart and centered, even though she does drink a lot.”
Whether or not Bullock drinks too much is news to us, having only heard wonderful things about her from other costars and celebrities. If she is drinking too much, this might make her early movie “28 Days,” in which Bullock plays a recovering alcoholic in rehab, make a little more sense.
Other snippets besides his jabs at Bullock include how he wasn’t a fan of the nipples on his Batman suit for his Batman movie, especially since his was the first suit to set a pair of the nipples, although he does claim that he doesn’t regret doing “Batman and Robin.” He also mentioned how he once went to the bathroom in his roommate’s litter box, and certainly didn’t appreciate that. Another question involved his being the subject of a prank by Brad Pitt that he only wanted to be called by his “Ocean’s Eleven” character’s name and that he treated the staff terribly.
Throughout the AMA, it was hard to tell if Clooney was joking, whether about his shoe cobbling hobby or his suspicion of Bullock’s drinking problem, but he maintained an air of humility and graciousness throughout. It’s fairly clear that Clooney has a great fondness for his costars, drinking problems notwithstanding.
