Over the last few days Facebook has unveiled its “Look Back” video in honor of the social networking site turning 10-years-old. For Facebook it was a way to give back to their users by highlighting special moments in people’s lives, by sharing data gathered from each individual’s Facebook wall. For the people, or at least some users, it was a way to get really creative.
Never shying away from users thinking outside of the box, Facebook users Derick Watts and Sunday Blues decided to take Facebook’s unofficial code of honor of connecting to millions in a creative way. The result combines AMC’s Breaking Bad and Facebook parody in its finest form. The comedy duo from South Africa decided to create Walter White’s Look Back video, featuring Walter’s most liked posts, his photo shares, and little moments he’s lived throughout the Breaking Bad series.
The video follows the same format of the rest of the Look Back videos, down to the song that has been ingrained in everyone’s minds and the little “like” hand that pops up at the end. For fans of the hit series Breaking Bad , it’s a trip down memory lane that will not disappoint.
The average Facebook Look Back video consists of many firsts that people go through like getting married, meeting your true love, and having children. Walter White’s firsts follow a familiar route, from the 2006 start of his Facebook profile, a photo of Breaking Bad ‘s favorite meth cook is pictured in the chemistry classroom where he taught, another of a family vacation with brother-in-law Hank, Marie, and his wife Skylar, and lastly a father and son photo of Walter White with Walt Jr aka Flynn, and then it slowly transitions into Walter White’s Heisenberg persona.
A picture of the Winnebago he and Jesse Pinkman cooked out of in the very beginning of their meth business is pictured with the caption, “Got a sweet new ride! Life is a highway.” Surprisingly the photo only received 25 likes!
The best moments of the Breaking Bad’s anti hero’s Look Back were White using the online phrases we all know and love like “LOL” and “YOLO.” Although in the Breaking Bad world Walter White was known as the man who knocks, this is a lighter fare than the show and less bleak than what fans have seen.
