‘Game Of Thrones’ Purple Wedding Confirmed As HBO Unleashes Season 4 Trailer Via Instagram
Winter may be coming, but for Game of Thrones fans, April can’t get here fast enough.
HBO’s latest look into season four of Game of Thrones, debuting via Instagram, has fans buzzing. The brief, but memorable trailer teases, among other things, an epic battle that leaves behind a trail of burning soldiers, the beautiful Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke, rallying her newly acquired army and much, much more.
One scene in particular in the Game of Thrones season four trailer that has fans buzzing is the highly anticipated wedding between the hated King Joffrey and his bride-to-be Margaery. Known by the fans as The Purple Wedding, it comes on the heels of the devastating Red Wedding that left audiences screaming at their television sets as Game of Thrones season three came to a close last year. According to badassdigest.com many fans were left wondering if HBO was going to leave The Purple Wedding on the cutting room floor this season:
“There were casting notices and other bits of information that led many to believe that the next couple of books might be getting mixed up or sped up,” the web site noted. “This led some to question whether The Purple Wedding – essentially the sequel to The Red Wedding – would make the season four cut, or if they would be extending storylines a little longer.”
Can’t wait to see more Game of Thrones season four behind the scenes or steal a glimpse of The Purple Wedding? Well then you’re in luck. According to the Hollywood Reporter, HBO is also giving fans a 15 minute glimpse into what’s to come:
“Game of Thrones Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing, which airs Sunday at 8:45 p.m. ET/PT, previews the season and feature clips from upcoming episodes, as well as a behind-the-scenes look,” the article mentions. “The 15-minute presentation airs ahead of True Detective.”
Meanwhile, the new season of Game of Thrones will premiere April 6, at 9 P.M. And according to aceshowbiz.com, “new faces in the upcoming season include Red Viper a.k.a. Prince Oberyn (Pedro Pascal), Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss), Styr of the Thenn (Yuri Kolokolnikov), and Hizdahr zo Loraq (Joel Fry).”
