Harry Styles: One Direction Can’t Compare To The Beatles
Harry Styles is comfortable with his place in the grand scheme of the musical universe.
Although One Direction certainly has tons of adoring fans ready and willing to mob them whenever they step into public, Styles admits that his group doesn’t have anything on The Beatles when it comes to making music. In fact, the singer said he and his bandmates aren’t in the same league as the iconic rock group.
While speaking to Top of the Pops magazine, Harry Styles said he recently watched video of The Beatles arriving in America. One Direction might have a much bigger fan base, but he thoroughly understands that they’ll never compete with the group on a musical level.
“We all sat and watched the film of [The Beatles] arriving in America. And, to be honest, that really was like us. Stepping off the plane, the girls, the madness. It was exactly the same as when we got there — just 50 years earlier,” Styles explained.
He continued, “But none of us think we’re in the same league as them music-wise. We’d be total fools if we did. Fame-wise, it’s probably even bigger, but we don’t stand anywhere near them in terms of music.”
While One Direction can’t compete with The Beatles’ musical output, this hasn’t stopped the guys from making a ton of money releasing album and touring the world. In fact, the group’s success helped Harry Styles buy a brand new home. However, he’ll have to wait until the builders finish gutting the place before he can move in.
“I bought it at the beginning of last year, then decided to move the kitchen. That turned into a bigger thing, and last time I went it was all just floorboards. The builders told me it won’t be finished until early this year, so even when I finally get home I’ll still be staying at a mate’s house,” the singer explained.
When Styles finally gets settled in to his new digs, he’ll have plenty of artwork to put on display. The Inquisitr previously reported that the singer dropped a sizable wad of cash on some very provocative artwork.
“Harry bought 20 pieces of artwork by Hayden Kays. He purchased them last week. They are original works and they are all unique. They are not prints. They are all done on the same typewriter. Each piece is hand-typed and produced,” a source told E! Online.
Do you agree with Harry Styles that One Direction isn’t on the same musical level as The Beatles?
