Rachel Frederickson’s Dramatic Weight Loss Shocks ‘Biggest Loser’ Trainers Jillian Michaels, Bob Harper
The dramatic weight loss revealed by The Biggest Loser contestant Rachel Frederickson did more than just shock a nation – it even floored her trainers!
Popular trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels were both equally stunned at the dramatic weight loss endured by Rachel Frederickson, the now famous Biggest Loser winner who dropped 155lbs to go from 260lbs to 105lbs. Frederickson went from a size 20 to a size 0/2, beating out fellow contestants David Brown and Bobby Saleem in the NBC show’s season finale to capture the $250,000 weight loss prize.
Fans were quick to point out how shocked Jillian Michaels appeared on the show’s finale that aired earlier this week. Michaels could be seen mouthing “Oh my God” after Rachel Frederickson revealed her dramatic weight loss onstage for the first time. In fact, Jillian repeated the mouth gesture a number of times before the camera wisely moved away from her.
And according to the examiner.com The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper was equally floored by Frederickson’s dramatic 155-pound weight loss. In comments that will appear on an upcoming episode of The Rachel Ray Show, The Examiner web site reported that Harper told the show’s host that neither he nor Jillian Michaels have any control over the weight loss contestants like Frederickson may experience after they leave the show, resulting in their shocked expressions:
“When the contestants leave to go home, they’re in charge of themselves,” the Examiner reported Bob Harper saying. “I had not seen her until that night, and so when she walked out, I was just kind of like, ‘Whoa.’ And I’ve been on the show since the beginning.”
Rachel Frederickson’s dramatic weight loss has gone on to stoke national debate. The Huffington Post wrote an op-ed piece comparing her weight loss to the kind actors such as Mark Wahlberg endure for a role. While other heavyweights such as the Washington Post threw their hat in the ring by asking the question, “why hasn’t this happened sooner?”
Washington Post blogger Caitlin Dewey feels that given that the NBC show is in it’s 15th season and considering the $250,000 prize is given to the contestant who sheds the most weight, even if “Frederickson lost too much weight…it’s equally impossible to see why anyone’s surprised by Frederickson’s “scary” weight loss.”
And while Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper are making their thoughts public on the matter, the producers behind The Biggest Loser have been reported as saying they will not make it a point to address Frederickson’s dramatic weight loss next season.
What do you think America? Did Rachel Frederickson’s dramatic weight loss go too far in your eyes? Is Jillian Michaels or Bob Harper to blame?
