Imagine Dragons Ride Post Grammy Awards Wave To First Ever Arena Tour
Imagine Dragons, currently riding a surge in popularity thanks to their Grammy Awards and Saturday Night Live performances of Radioactive with rapper Kendrick Lamar, are about to embark on their first ever, arena rock tour dubbed Into The Night. Beginning at the Taco Bell arena in Boise Idaho on February 8th, the Vegas based clan of musicians will bring Into The Night cross country to twenty-one different arenas in America where they will perform hits from their debut album Night Visions.
And while an arena tour may seem like the next logical progression for this on-the-rise band, it actually is quite the shock for a group of artists used to slumming it at local area clubs for so many years:
“A year ago we were playing for, like, 40 people,” front man Dan Reynolds told the Chicago Tribune early last year. “Now we’re at the point where everything is sold-out beforehand.”
It’s hard to find a hotter band than the Imagine Dragons in the U.S. today. Following intensely well-received performances of their hit song Radioactive featuring rapper Kendrick Lamar on both the Grammy Awards and SNL, Imagine Dragons completely have taken the country by storm. They were even invited to join Sir Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr on stage to perform the song Revolution for an upcoming Beatles 50th Anniversary Tribute show. According to Rolling Stone, Reynolds was in awe at company surrounding him on stage. “It was the most nervous I’ve ever been,” he told the acclaimed music magazine.
Not to lose sight of their accomplishments, once Imagine Dragons wraps the Into The Night arena tour, they’ll continue working on a follow up to their successful debut album Night Visions. And while their last official team up with Kendrick Lamar may have been the official remix version of Radioactive released this past month, Reynolds told Rolling Stone that the new album will continue to explore new musical territory:
“It’s too early to say what the album is sounding like, but it’s sounding different,” he told the magazine. “One of my favorite singers is Harry Nilsson, who created beautiful pop melodies. But he did it in a different way, and that’s what’s been on my mind. I feel like we have a lot of maturing to do, as a band.”
