Is George Zimmerman’s upcoming celebrity boxing match with DMX fixed or is it on the level?

Rapper DMX seems to be taking it seriously. DMX (Earl Simmons) said of the three-round bout to raise money for charity, “I am going to beat the living f**k out of him. I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f**k him up right.” DMX was reportedly selected to step in the ring with Zimmerman from 15,000 applicants. The celebrity boxing match is scheduled for March 1.

You may recall from the George Zimmerman murder trial that his then-personal trainer dissed and dismissed Zimmerman’s fighting skills.

Neighborhood watchman George Zimmerman, now 30, was put on trial for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin, 17, on February 26, 2012, after confronting the teenager as he walked back to the house where he was staying in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. Zimmerman, who is Hispanic, entered a plea of not guilty on self-defense grounds and went on trial in a Seminole County courtroom starting on June 24. After about 16 hours of deliberation, the six-person, all-female jury on the evening of July 13 found him not guilty of both second degree murder and manslaughter.

The Deadspin website has suggested that the George Zimmerman-DMX boxing match may be be staged perhaps along the lines of professional wrestling bouts: “… There is next to zero chance that this match will be anything other than a total fraud, a prearranged entertainment… The man organizing the fight, Damon Feldman, has staged many ‘celebrity’ boxing matches in the past — you may remember watching Danny Bonaduce fight Jose Canseco back in 2009 — and has essentially admitted that the fights are fixed.”

According to Philly.com , in 2011, Feldman pleaded no contest in Pennsylvania to charges of fixing fights and promoting fights without a promoter’s license. He was sentenced two years’ probation pursuant to the plea bargain. In 2010, Feldman told Philly.com that “I classify myself as the WWE of boxing. The bottom line is I give formerly famous people the chance to step in the ring, they’re not gonna kill each other. It’s 100 percent entertainment.”

Do you think the George Zimmerman-DMX celebrity boxing match will be real or fake?
