Kanye West’s Collaboration With Chief Keef Confirmed

A lot of gossip is swarming Kanye West’s personal life with his impending wedding to Kim Kardashian, but West has a lot of professional news to celebrate as well. In addition to his “I dos” West is showing no signs of slowing down despite releasing his Yeezus album.

Despite his radio tour in support of his album, which has earned the rapper a mountain of bad press, Kanye isn’t exactly worrying about it and has moved on, musically speaking. According to Hip Hop DX, West is set to collaborate with up and coming rapper Chief Keef. Besides a career, the two also share a history of calling Chicago home.

The duo were photographed on February first, and Complex ran with their collaboration, but until now it hadn’t been confirmed by Kanye West or Chief Keef. Peeda Pan who is Keef’s manager, let the cat out of the bag with a short interview for XXL, and confirmed that not only will there be a collaboration between Kanye and Chief, but there’s numerous collaborations in the works.

“Kanye will definitely be on Keef’s album on Bang 3..I’ll just put it to you like this: They have several new songs. They’ll be collaborating and they’ll be released this year.”

This isn’t the first time Yeezy fans have heard Chief Keef’s name associated to the Chi-town rapper. Speaking in 2012 of his thoughts on Kanye West after West remixed Keef’s “I Don’t Like.”

“He did reach out to me by doing a song. I know he wouldn’t do that to anybody. He really don’t give a f–k. I do feel like he reached out to me by getting on the song. I wasn’t surprised. I was just like, ‘Kanye? Kanye wanna get on “I Don’t Like”?’ But I could understand it, ’cause I know he be on it to talk about what he don’t like. And I made the song and nobody had come out with that idea yet.”

When Chief Keef and West release their collaboration it won’t be the first time the two worked together. Last Year West spotlighted Keef on his boombastic song, “Hold My Liquor” which is a track off of his album Yeezus. Although this probably would have been an honor for any up and coming rapper, especially one from Chicago, Keef wasn’t really familiar with the song he spit on, having said: “Yeah, I did a song called…I forgot. I’m on [Yeezus]; I forget what the song’s called, but it’s hot—it’s a hot song.”

Although Kanye is lining up exciting projects for Chief Keef, he’s not on everyone’s radar despite his success in the industry. Rapper Pusha T recently gave an interview with MTV’s Sway Calloway about his first impressions of Kanye.

“I was a Graduation Kanye fan. You know what I’m saying? College Dropout…I probably was listening to some type of gangsta music…It wasn’t necessarily on my radar.”

As for West and Keef there’s no word on when their collaborations will see the light of day in 2014. It’s best to just stay tuned.
