Thor 3: Ragnarok Movie Sequel And Agents Of Shield To Combine?
The Thor 3 Ragnarok movie rumors claim that Agents of Shield could set up the storyline for the Thor 2 sequel.
In related reports by The Inquisitr, the Thor 3 movie has been both confirmed and denied. This past fall, actress Natalie Portman claimed Thor 3 was a very likely prospect but then Kevin Feige shot down Thor 3 rumors by saying Marvel wasn’t yet working on the production.
Now Marvel has announced that producer Craig Kyle and writer Christopher Yost will be writing the screenplay for Thor 3. So while Ragnarok is not quite official yet, in the past these two have teased fans about the final battle of the Norse gods (by the way, the real life Ragnarok is supposed to happen this month in 2014).
In addition, Jaimie Alexander, who plays Lady Sif in Thor: The Dark World and a future episode of Agents of Shield, claimed there would definitely be a Thor 3 if the box office numbers for Thor 2 were good. Since the movie brought in $633 million, it’s likely we’ll get to see Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston’s wishes for a Thor 3 Ragnorak to come true:
“I think what’s good about this is that each time, with the Avengers, we sort of made it difficult to separate them each time there’s some sort of conflict it’s like where’s the rest of the team? And I liked that Thor has another universe or the universe to sort of take care of and keep him occupied. I think that in the comic book the sort of end of days, Armageddon aspect is probably the direction in which it will all head in. Where it’s sort of the end of all things and there’s obviously no script or anything when I read the comic books I thought it was an interesting way to go.”
The original Thor/Ragnarok story has the Asgardian hero missing in action and presumed dead. The Asgardian gods are all supposed to kill each other in an epic battle and be revived again with fresh memories by more powerful beings who feed off the destruction. In order to break this cycle, Tony Stark clones Thor and fuses it with Iron Man technology to create a cyborg Thor. And I won’t include too many spoilers, but a demon lord named Surtur is involved.
Of course, this doesn’t mean the screenplay writers will stick to the script set by the comics. It’s also rumored that the Age Of Ultron movie may set up a scenario where the gods of Asgard go to war with Midgard. I won’t say why this happens but Loki would be involved, as well as his wife Sigyn.
There’s also speculation that the Agents Of Shield TV show will be tied into Thor 3 somehow. The show has referenced the Avengers and Thor many times now but, as mentioned previously, Lady Sif will be making an appearance in episode 15 to take down an Asgardian villain. Since the Thor 3 release date could be set for May 6, 2016, this means Agents Of Shield Season 3 will be out. Rumors claim that a build up to Ragnarok may be included in other spinoffs and crossovers, as well.
(And, no… that’s not Chris Hemsworth in the Thor 3: Ragnarok photo above. Guess who?)
