‘Elder Scrolls Online: Digital Imperial Edition’ Won’t Feature Any Gameplay Advantages
The Elder Scrolls Online: Digital Imperial Edition won’t give players any advantages over those who spend their money on the standard edition of the title.
Such to the surprise of the folks at Bethesda Softworks, the pricey edition of the upcoming MMORPG is selling incredibly well ahead of its release. Since this version of the game gives folks a few perks that aren’t included in the vanilla release, some have worried if it provides customers with an unfair advantage starting out.
To set the record straight about The Elder Scrolls Online: Digital Imperial Edition, the company recently decided to address numerous customer concerns about the issue on its official blog. While this edition of the game features a few exclusive bonuses, none of these extras will really matter in the grand scheme of things.
“Imperials do not begin the game in a unique starting location or via a separate quest, but they can start in any alliance as befits their status as un-aligned outcasts of their own Province. Being an Imperial includes a racial skill line that offers unique gameplay opportunities, but there is not an overall gameplay advantage. It is an opportunity to set yourself visually apart in the lands of Tamriel,” the company explained.
Bethesda insists that all the incredibly nifty content found in the pricier version of The Elder Scrolls Online was painstakingly crafted to avoid giving players an unfair advantage over those won’t don’t want to pay the cash. In other words, people who splurge on the Digital Imperial Edition aren’t starting out with any game-changing perks or bonuses.
“This is cool content designed for some of our biggest fans who wish to have something different from other collector’s editions in the market. The only other alternative would have been to offer a collector’s edition that offers no in-game items whatsoever,” the post read.
Although the Elder Scrolls Online: Digital Imperial Edition will set you back $80, this apparently isn’t stopping fans from spending a little extra for the chance to play a human in the game. According to VentureBeat, this edition of the game is currently outselling the standard edition by approximately 4.6-to-1 over at some outlets.
The Elder Scrolls Online hits PC and Mac on April 4. If you want to play the game on Xbox One or Playstation 4, then you’ll have to wait until June to check it out. Are you planning to pick up the Digital Imperial Edition or the standard version of Bethesda’s MMORPG?
