Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead After Apparent Drug Overdose [Breaking]
Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment on Sunday; the cause of death is not yet known, but Hoffman was known to have a problem with drugs.
In May 2013, the 45-year-old Oscar winner left a clinic on the east coast of America where he had spent 10 days being treated. He had undergone rehab for heroin use and addiction to pills.
A personal assistant found Hoffman’s body in the bathroom an apartment at 35 Bethune St. with a hypodermic needle still in his arm, according to sources, and called 911 around 11:30 a.m,
The Academy Award-winning actor, aged 46, won Best Actor in 2005 for the film Capote and was also nominated for three best supporting actor Oscar nominations for his roles in Charlie Wilson’s War, Doubt, and The Master.
The New York City Police found Hoffman in his West Village Apartment some time in the late morning today.
Hoffman was in a longstanding relationship with costume designer Mimi O’Donnell. They met while working on the 1999 play In Arabia We’d All Be Kings, which Hoffman directed. They had a son, Cooper Alexander, born in March 2003, and two daughters, Tallulah, born in November 2006, and Willa, born in October 2008.
