Coto De Caza: Driver Killed After Car Lands On Wall Of Home

A man died when his car hit a curb, then a tree and ended up on top of a wall in the Coto De Caza community.

Local authorities arrived on the scene at 7:40 pm on Friday following reports of a crash at Cherry Hill Drive and Vista Del Verde. When they arrived they found a Mazda 3 Hatchback on top of a wall outside the home, the driver inside was pronounced dead at the scene.

A mother and children age three and six were inside the Coto de Caza house at the time of the crash but were not injured. It’s not clear to authorities at the moment what caused the 22-year-old driver to lose control of his vehicle, taking it airborne and onto a wall.

Crash scene investigators said that the car was travelling south on Vista Del Verde on a downward hill when the driver careered into the corner house. As there were no skid marks on the road investigators will have a hard time establishing what might have caused the accident.

Fortunately there was only minimal damage to the home as authorities wait for a crane to arrive on the scene in order to life the car, and the deceased driver down from the wall. Until crash scene investigators get into the car they are not saying whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt or if alcohol was involved.

Sadly this isn’t the first serious crash to affect the gated Coto de Caza community. Back in 2005 Rianna Woosley was killed there when she lost control of the Volkswagen she was driving and hit a tree.

The authorities are asking any eyewitnesses who may have seen the Coto De Caza crash on Friday to call 949-487-4000 with any information in the hope that some light can be shed on what led to the fatal crash.
