Rapper Future Gears Up For Sophomore Album With Big Hip Hop Collaborations

It’s cliché to say, but the future looks bright for Atlanta’s most exciting new rapper. The artist who goes by the name Future doesn’t seem like he’s ready to put out a sophomore slump album for his second big release in the industry.

On the heels of his moderately popular debut album Pluto, Future is really looking to tap into what’s popular about the crossover genre of Pop/Rap. In order to do that Future has paired up with some of today’s hottest names for what are expected to be monster collaborations.

Future’s sophomore album called Honest was the topic of conversation when Mike Will Made It, a friend of the rapper’s, was interviewed by Rolling Stone. According to Future’s friend, Honest will feature some of Hip Hop’s most exciting names in mainstream music.

“We have some good collaborations on there like Nicki Minaj, Drake, Kanye West, [Pharrell Williams], Pusha T. It’s a real dope album and it should be eventful when it comes out.” Mike Will is acting as executive producer on Future’s new album, which is set to drop sometime in 2014. Originally, Future’s album was supposed to be released in November 2013, but the artist’s tour with singer Drake got in the way of finalizing production on the album.

It’s been a huge year for the rapper in general. Aside from exciting new collaborations, and his tour with Drake, the rapper is set to welcome his first child with his fiancee Ciara. As we previously reported The View’s Jenny McCarthy and Ciara revealed that the singer was expecting her first child via a Twitter post.

Following the tweet the couple’s rep said:

“Future surprised Ciara with an engagement ring this weekend, also her birthday weekend, in New York City… The ring, which doubled as a special birthday gift, is a beautiful 15-carat emerald cut diamond designed by Avianne & Co.”

As for Future’s music, the artist spoke with Billboard magazine back in October and previewed some of his new music for the magazine. Billboard’s Erika Ramirez made note of the single has with twerk sensation Miley Cyrus.

“On “Real & True,” Miley Cyrus and Mr. Hudson sing to each other on the hook over Mike WiLL Made It’s production. Cyrus steals the spotlight with her vocal prowess.”

On collaborating with Miley Cyrus, Future said that it was more about her presence in pop culture than anything else:

“She’s a big star. Her MTV performance took it to another level. It’s like she planned it, but she’s going along with whatever is happening.”

Future is currently signed with Epic Records.
