GOP Activist Calls Wendy Davis ‘Hooker’ And ‘Whore’ On Twitter
Wendy Davis, the Democratic candidate for Texas governor, found herself on the receiving end of a head-spinningly misogynistic and offensive Twitter rant from a Republican activist, at a time when Republicans are attempting to shed the “war on women” brand that they’ve been carrying around at least since 2012.
Davis has been forced to explain some minor discrepancies in her official biography recently. For example, she was divorced at 21, not 19 at she previously claimed, even though at 19 she was separated with legal divorce papers not becoming final for another couple of years. Also, her mother had a ninth grade education, not a sixth-grade one, The Dallas Morning News reported.
But Republicans — fearing that Wendy Davis, a popular state senator, could wrench away control of the Texas governor’s mansion for the first time since 1994 when Democratic incumbent Ann Richards was ousted by Republican George W. Bush — have seized on the seemingly small inconsistencies to attack Davis as not only a liar but a bad mother who abandoned her child.
They have also accused her of marrying a “sugar daddy” because her second husband helped pay for her law school education.
Last Thursday GOP activist and former executive director of South Carolina’s Republican Party Todd Kincannon went his Republican colleagues one better, unleashing a series of Twitter messages branding Wendy Davis a “whore” and a “hooker” and accusing her of performing sexual favors in return for campaign contributions.
Kincannon’s entire Twitter account has since been deleted, but a number of news outlets, such as Salon.com, managed to transcribe and even screen-grab many of Kincannon’s over-the-top posts.
A sampling of Kincannon’s messages:
“Wendy Davis has done even more to damage modern feminism than Monica Lewinsky playing Human Humidor with Bill Clinton in the Oval Office.”
“The best thing about the Wendy Davis fiasco is this: It proves that you can still call a whore a whore. Feminazis ain’t won yet, my friends.”
“Wendy Davis stimulates the kneepad economy. And a lot of penises.”
“Wendy Davis has solved America’s student loan crisis! Just find a dumbass to pay off your loans in exchange for sex.”
“In other news, Wendy Davis took a short break from blowing ‘campaign contributors’ today to condemn remarks made by Mike Huckabee…”
“Wendy Davis is a looker and a hooker.”
See below for a screen grab of some of Kincannon’s tweets.
This is not the first time that Kincannon has posted wildly offensive Twitter messages. Last year, he posted about wishing that an Iraq War vet who became an anti-war activist had “come home in a body bag” and his hope that “the enemy splatters his brain JFK-style. He deserves it.”
He has also called former House speaker Nancy Pelosi a “c***” and during last year’s Super Bowl tweeted, “It hasn’t been this dark in the Superdome since all those poors occupied it after Hurricane Katrina.”
Last year, Kincannon told The Huffington Post he continues to post offensive and inflammatory tweets because, “I enjoy watching people go nuts.”
It is hard to believe that Kincannon’s attacks will damage the Texas campaign of Wendy Davis, though with with a campaign war chest of $27 million held by her Republican opponent, state Attorney General Greg Abbott, she already faces an uphill battle.
The Wendy Davis campaign has just $9.5 million in cash on hand.
