Justin Bieber’s Mom Pattie Mallette: ‘I Didn’t Do Any Interviews With The Sun!’ Didn’t Ask For Prayers
Justin Bieber’s mother, Pattie Mallette, has denied giving an interview to the British tabloid The Sun in which she supposedly revealed she “prays” for her son everyday, and further, requested prayers for herself and the teen star.
Taking to Twitter late Wednesday the Nowhere But Up author blasted the paper, writing:
“I didn’t do any interviews with The Sun. Why is everyone saying I did? Gossip writers making things up? Shocker!!”
For their part The Sun have yet to respond to what is a damning exposé of common tabloid practice, where quotes are lifted from other sources and run as if obtained directly. In some cases – as seen with singer Miley Cyrus’ recent slamming of false statements attributed to her about Beyonce in Love Magazine – they are even invented.
The UK newspaper claimed Mallette responded to questions about controversies surrounding Bieber including rumors of alleged drug usage and a police raid by Los Angeles authorities at the singer’s Calabasas, California, home on January 14 in search of evidence that might connect him (or his friends) to an egging incident at his neighbor’s home two weeks ago.
Mallette – who gave birth to Justin at just 17 – was falsely quoted by The Sun, as replying:
“I think so many people go into the entertainment industry with amazing Christian roots and they go in with the right morals and they get influenced somehow.”

The paper claimed Pattie said:
“I think it’s important to pray for leaders and people of influence and God has put [Justin] in this place of influence. I ask that people keep me and Justin in their minds. I pray for him every day.”
“If Justin’s struggling, don’t kick him when he’s down or condemn him — pray for him,” read another statement attributed to the 37-year-old.
The Sun also added quotes about Pattie’s life struggles, much of it similar to material found in her autobiography.
“I started self-medicating with drugs and alcohol. I got in with the wrong crowd. I ended up stealing and even dealing drugs,” she was quoted as saying.
“Everything sort of came to a head by the time I was 17, when I tried to commit suicide. People pressured me to have an abortion. But I had a very strong feeling that I was doing the right thing. It was the best decision of my life. I pray that what happened to me will happen for everyone, for people that are struggling with pain, depression and hopelessness.”
Mallette’s blasting of The Sun comes after denials by a Los Angeles Sheriff and detective Lt. David Thompson of a TMZ report claiming drugs other than those allegedly found in Bieber’s friend Xavier “Lil Za” Smith’s bedroom at Calabasas – reportedly MDMA and Xanax – were “littered” around the superstar’s home during the raid.
The gossip website alleged investigators found cookie jars filled with marijuana, between four to five empty codeine bottles, “Sizzurp” foam cups, a smoking room, bongs, special cigars for making blunts, and hookah pipes, when police swept through the 19-year-old’s home in the surprise, early morning search.
Not so, said Lt. Thompson, who told the New York Daily News he personally walked though every room in Bieber’s house.
“I didn’t see any of it,” the detective said of TMZ’s-rumored drug stash, adding, “The house was orderly. It didn’t look like a drug pad. I did[n’t] see any empty codeine bottles. I didn’t smell weed.”
The celebrity website claims raid detectives saw empty Fanta bottles allegedly discolored by codeine. Without drug analysis, they claim this is an indication the Fanta bottle were used to mix the narcotic drink “Sizzurp” – a codeine and promethazin based cough syrup that users mix with fizzy drinks and candy and is also referred to as “lean,” “purple drank,” and other aliases.
Of this and other drug claims, Thompson told The News,
“Maybe there was codeine in the medicine cabinet, but the scope of the search warrant was such that we didn’t go through medicine cabinets or open cookie jars,” he said.
“Nobody had time to flush anything,” he added. “It was orderly. Nobody ran. Nobody took an excessive amount of time to contact us,”
This directly refutes TMZ’s claim alleging some of “[Bieber’s] friends went into the [smoking] room and some of the illicit stuff went down the toilet.”
It was originally reported police investigators immediately detained a party of seven people – which included Justin – found in his house on arrival.
Lt. Thompson reportedly insisted he wasn’t “covering for the kid,” and presumably wants the felony vandalism and assault investigation – in which Bieber is a suspect and he is the lead detective – to be conducted with accuracy and professionalism.
Meanwhile, Bieber reportedly dropped $75,000 in a Miami Gentlemen’s Club Monday night and spent Wednesday enjoying a host of activities including skateboarding, shooting hoops, tagging graffiti, and riding around Miami Beach with his father, Jeremy, and pals.
