Demi Lovato Taught Selena Gomez How To Speak Her Mind
Feel free to blame Demi Lovato if you don’t like the stuff Selena Gomez says these days.
Since the former X Factor judge doesn’t have a problem telling folks what’s on her mind at any given moment, Lovato helped Gomez unleash the plethora of opinions lurking just beneath the surface. Selena recently opened up about her friendship with Demi and Taylor Swift during a recent chat with Seventeen magazine.
“You can’t be afraid of what people are going to say, because you’re never going to make everyone happy. Girls are scared of saying what they want. So when you don’t like something, you have to say it. [Demi Lovato] taught me that,” she said.
Gomez continued, “Just saying it out loud is the first step to taking away the fear. It took me a long time to be able to say what I wanted — even with my parents. I tried to beat around the bush, but I realized if I just said what I was thinking, I would feel so much better. It’s not easy, but there’s a way to do it.”
Demi Lovato also reportedly had a few words of extreme wisdom for Gomez regarding ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. While some celebrity gossip sites claimed Lovato encouraged Selena to spend time with the troubled singer during her time off, sources recently told Celeb Dirty Laundry that the opposite is actually true.
Since Bieber’s rumored drug use could spell bad news for all involved, Demi Lovato told Gomez to stay away from the singer until he gets his life back in order. Of course, nothing about this particular report was officially confirmed as of this writing.
“I love my girl friends more than I’ve loved any of my boyfriends because they have supported me, loved me, and always stood by my side. Some girls will drop you in five seconds for the right guy. That’s not how it’s supposed to be,” Gomez told Seventeen.
She added, “That’s why I love [Demi Lovato] and [Taylor Swift] — they support females and love to have that empowerment! I wish girls would stop hurting each other.”
Demi Lovato is presently spending some time away from the spotlight to prepare for her upcoming Neon Lights tour. The singer will kick off a series of shows beginning next month. Lovato also intends to put together some songs for a new album at some point this year.
