Alison Sweeney: ‘I Never Had More Than A Two-Week Vacation Since I Was 16’
Alison Sweeney has starred in Days Of Our Lives for more than 21 years, since she was just 16-years-old. Sweeney announced on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday that she was finally leaving Days.
The decision for Sweeney is clearly not an easy one as she revealed the shocking news to Ellen:
I decided that it’s going to be my last year with the show. I’ve been on Days of Our Lives since I was 16 years old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time.
Hasn’t had more than a two-week vacation in 21 years? Since she was 16? Wow, that’s gotta be rough. No wonder The Biggest Loser star wants to leave. Can you imagine being so restricted for that amount of years, it’s borderline abuse, isn’t it?
Alison Sweeney went on to talk about how much she loved Days of Our Lives, but that she wanted to spend time now concentrating on being a mummy:
I love my job, I love daytime, I love the fans. I love everything about it. I just work so much and my daughter just turned 5 and my son is 9 and I just want to be with them.
Even though Sweeney isn’t sure when her final episode will air, she confirmed she’ll be featuring in the show throughout the year.
She did say that she was struggling to decide what kind of ending Sami should have; not sure if it should be a happy one or if she “deserves some sort of very twisted, like, Breaking Bad ending. She’s caused a lot of people a lot of problems.”
