Jay Leno Will Have Billy Crystal As His Last Guest On ‘The Tonight Show’ [Video]
We are about to witness the end of a major era. Jay Leno’s tenure as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show is coming to an end and it will do so with a trip back to the beginning. Jay Leno will be having Billy Crystal as his final guest before he turns the show over to Jimmy Fallon.
Jimmy Fallon will be appearing as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on February 3rd, the last week of Leno’s reign. Jay Leno has been hosting The Tonight Show for the past 22 years.
Jimmy Fallon was chosen to move from Late Night, which he has hosted since 2009, to take over the Tonight Show. Jay Leno has hosted The Tonight Show since its original host, Johnny Carson.
Jay Leno’s final week will also include guest appearances by country music superstar Garth Brooks, Betty White, Matthew McConaughey, Sandra Bullock, country singer Blake Shelton, musician Lyle Lovett and NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley. Jimmy Fallon will officially take over on February 17th which is during the second week of the Olympics. His scheduled first guests will be Will Smith and U2.
For the first week of Fallon’s tenure they will be broadcasting at midnight after the network ends it daily coverage of the Olympics from Sochi, Russia. Starting February 24th the show will go back to its regular time slot of 11:35pm.
NBC Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt has made it clear that while Jay Leno is leaving The Tonight Show NBC would like to continue working with Leno. Greenblatt said:
“I would love him to do specials with us, and we’ve got ideas about other sorts of shows he can host. As he told me recently, NBC has really been his only home.”
Jay Leno said that until he officially left The Tonight Show he would not discuss his future with NBC.
