An alleged shoplifter ordered her 7-year-old daughter to beat a store employee who was calling 911 according to police.
The mom reportedly also tried to run over the clerk with her car.
The alleged mother-daughter tag team incident occurred at the Family Dollar store in Holly Hill, Florida, on Wednesday night.
The customer who got into a fight with the checkout clerk initially entered the store with two young girls, ages 1 and 7. In an unconventional bargain-hunting technique, she apparently had a “sale” sticker in her purse which she tried to use to buy a toy for a reduced price. When the cashier told the woman that the toy was actually not on sale, things went downhill fast.
The customer allegedly then exited the store without paying for the other items in her shopping cart. “The clerk followed the woman to her car and tried to get a license plate number, but the woman told her older daughter to stand in front of the tag, police said. The clerk called 911 from the store, and the woman went back inside and started punching her in the face with a closed fist, police said. She then ordered the 7-year-old to help her, and the child began beating the clerk, police said.” The woman also reportedly tried to run over the clerk in her vehicle as the family left the scene.
The Family Dollar clerk, who told police the girl’s mother screamed “get her!”, suffered injuries to her face in the attack.
The alleged shoplifter is still at large although police apparently know who she is. Potential charges in this assault could include strong-armed robbery, battery, child abuse, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
