‘Batman Vs. Superman’ And ‘Justice League’ Will Film Back-To-Back [Rumor]
A major rumor concerning Batman vs. Superman started floating around this week. Latino Review is reporting Batman vs. Superman and the much anticipated Justice League will shoot back-to-back.
Marvel and DC Comics have always battled for the big bucks, but Marvel still rules the box office with films such as Avengers, Spider Man, Thor, Wolverine, and Iron Man, which debuted its third installment last year.
DC has the super successful Superman films, and of course, the Christopher Nolan trilogy, The Dark Knight, which brought billions in revenues.
Now, let’s just take a moment to examine the veracity of this newest rumor (since there is no real concrete news on the project, not even a name).
Is there really a chance that Batman vs. Superman and Justice League could be filmed back-to-back?
There could be, and it would make some sense.
Bloggers and other industry insiders think this is a real possibility and would follow the business model of blockbusters such as The Hobbit trilogy, which took about two years to complete, with one stay of over 18-months for the cast.
In case you forgot, Batman vs. Superman, directed by Zack Snyder will begin shooting soon. Batman vs. Superman is the sequel to Man Of Steel, which brought us a newer version of Superman/Kal-El/ Clark Kent in the person of British actor Henry Cavill.
LatinoReview warns us that the rumors regarding the possible back-to-back shooting of the highly anticipated blockbusters are still mostly speculation, though their logic is based on some inside information, and some good, old-fashioned speculation.
The website also gives more updates on casting rumors, although nothing is confirmed in that department either.
So far, we know that Ben Affleck — in a controversial decision — has been cast as Batman, Henry Cavill returns as Superman, Golden Globe winner Amy Adams reprises her role as Lois Lane as does Diane Lane in the role of Martha Kent, Clark’s mother.
The most recent news came late last year when it was announced that Gal Galdot landed the role of Wonder Woman in Batman vs. Superman.
With the addition of all these other DC characters, many believe the film will be a set-up for the Justice League movie, which Zack Snyder said wouldn’t happen until Superman’s character is more developed.
The report suggests there are two reasons to film Batman vs. Superman and Justice League consecutively.
First, to maximize the schedules and retain the stars in the film, especially the always busy Ben Affleck, who is also a director. Henry Cavill is hot right now — literally and figuratively — as is Amy Adams, fresh from her Golden Globe win for American Hustle, and Laurence Fishburne, who will be back as her boss, Perry White.
Second, according to the rumors, Batman vs. Superman will end in a cliffhanger that will feed right into a Justice League storyline, and Warner Bros. wants to be able to release the film in 2016.
This would also support all the rumors that keep coming up regarding additional DC comic characters who might appear in the sequel.
This is all very exciting for DC fans who have waited patiently for Justice League and are anticipating the latest installment Batman vs. Superman, which begins filming in Detroit, Michigan in February.
