Leonardo DiCaprio Gets Burned By Tina Fey’s Serial Model Dating Joke
For years, Leonardo DiCaprio has been the brunt of internet memes due to his serial dating with much younger models. Not looking to settle down anytime soon, it seems like DiCaprio trades in or trades up models depending on the change in season, and while no one particularly seems surprised that DiCaprio lives that life, it certainly got addressed at the Golden Globes last night.
At the time of the jab, Leonardo DiCaprio was about to walk on stage to announce the Best Actress in a Movie: Drama category during Sunday night’s ceremony. Instead of a normal introduction, comedian and co-host of the night Tina Fey called out The Wolf of Wall Street’s star’s love life by saying:
“And now, like a supermodel’s vagina, let’s all give a warm welcome to Leonardo DiCaprio.”
Instead of being embarrassed, DiCaprio, who was obviously amused by his introduction, walked on stage like it was no big deal, and gave Fey a thumbs up for a joke well executed. His signature 90s heartthrob smile was on his face right before he announced Cate Blanchett as the winner, probably because he was still thinking about Fey’s burn.
DiCaprio’s burn wasn’t the only highlight for the prolific actor. During the ceremony, Leonardo took home Best Actor in a Comedy for the Martin Scorsese-directed film The Wolf of Wall Street. Stunned that he would ever win an award in comedy, since most of his filmography stems from dramatic roles, DiCaprio playfully accepted his award with a charming yet sincere speech.
During his speech, the two-time Golden Globe winner said:
“Wow this is an incredible, incredible honor. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press, I would have never guessed I would have won for Best Actor in a Comedy.”
DiCaprio grew emotional in his speech as he began to pay tribute to Martin Scorsese:
“I grew up in a generation of actors that revered your work. You influenced everybody in this room. you’re not an incredible visionary, but you put the very fabric of our culture up on screen, and you’re a risk taker. As the history of cinema unfolds you will be regarded as one of the great artists of our time. Thank you for your mentorship.”
In the end, Leonardo DiCaprio walked away looking like a true Hollywood star, even with the jokes.
