Ed Sheeran Won’t Collaborate With Taylor Swift For New Album
Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift fans should prepare themselves for a short wave of depression — the pair aren’t collaborating on the British singer’s new album.
Details about the new batch of songs are slowly but surely starting to trickle out. Since so many people are anxious to see what Sheeran puts together for his sophomore album, he’s started dropping hints about the endeavor during interviews. Unfortunately, Ed confirmed that Swift won’t appear on his next trip to the studio.
“I didn’t work with Taylor [Swift] on the album purely for the fact that we’ve done that already. We’re always going to perform together, we’re always going to write together [and] we’re always going to hang out. I just felt for this record I wanted to make a record that would surprise people and keep them intrigued,” he explained during a recent chat.
Although Ed Sheeran isn’t working with Taylor Swift on the new album, this doesn’t mean the songwriter isn’t receiving a bit of help from a few other very famous folks. Sheeran recently revealed that he was working with producers Pharrell Williams and Rick Rubin to help perfect his new collection of tunes.
“Pharrell is a genius in every sense of the word. He’s got a very good outlook on music and not pushing stuff just to be popular. He was saying the way that he has maintained his success over the years is, if he makes a song and it’s not ready for the charts, as in the sound isn’t quite there he’ll hold on to it,” the singer said.
Sheeran continued, “He’ll just make a song like ‘Happy’ and then hold onto it for three or four years and when the time is right stick it out, and I definitely agree with that. He is a very cool person to work with.”
The Inquisitr previously reported that Ed Sheeran is also teaming up with Rick Rubin for the album. Although the “I See Fire” singer was a little confused by the veteran producer’s pizza metaphors, this didn’t stop him taking heeding the advice.
“With a recording, if you view a recording as a pizza, the main part of a pizza is the base, and without the base and the tomato sauce on it, you can’t build anything on that. So the base is the live performance. So you perform it live with an acoustic guitar, however you want to do it, and record that as the main track,” Sheeran said.
The singer continued, “And then after is when you sprinkle the cheese on, you put a bit of bass on it, you put on herbs, i.e. drums, then you put on some pepperoni if you’re into that. Some songs are the margheritas, some songs are the four cheese ones; it differs.”
