Katherine Webb Facial Expressions Storm ‘Net After ‘Bama Loss

Katherine Webb, the beauty queen girlfriend of University of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron, was once again the star of the college football show last night, overshadowing even the Crimson Tide’s stunning upset defeat to Oklahoma, 45-31 in the Sugar Bowl, as AP recounted.

Katherine Webb became famous overnight during last year’s national championship game when ESPN play-by-play man Brent Musberger couldn’t stop drooling over her.

As her beau, playing his final game for ‘Bama before graduating and attempting to move on to the pro ranks, was consistently outplayed by the Sooners’ freshman signal-caller Trevor Knight, ESPN repeatedly cut away to the mortified reactions of one Katherine Webb, as Fox Sports delighted in reporting.

As a result, the internet was on fire with Webb’s mortified expressions as the fiasco for McCarron unfolded in the New Orleans Superdome.

Now, that’s not to say that ESPN didn’t find some happy moments for the 24-year-old Webb, who watched the game alongside McCarron’s mother, Dee Dee Bonner. For example, scroll down for a video in which, right after McCarron throws a second-quarter, 67-yard touchdown pass to DeAndrew White, ESPN cuts to Katherine Webb and Bonner jumping up and down and hugging each other.

It’s actually been a rough college football season for the former Miss Alabama-turned-Sports Illustrated swimsuit model. Last year, her boyfriend became one of only seven college quarterbacks in history to lead his team to back-to-back national championships. For much of this season, Alabama was favored to make it a three-peat.

But McCarron’s quest for history hit an iron wall in the Iron Bowl earlier this season when Alabama suffered another shocking upset, losing to arch-rival Auburn in the 2013 edition of the annual interstate showdown on a highly improbable 109-yard touchdown return of a missed field goal with no time left on the clock, as USA Today reported at the time..

That loss put ‘Bama out of the running for a national title. Now poor Katherine Webb has been forced to sit through another crushing loss as 23-year-old senior McCarron was denied even the consolation prize of a Sugar Bowl victory.

And Katherine herself did not receive much consolation from the internet. Check out some of the now-viral tweets below, that alternately have fun with ESPN‘s Katherine Webb-obsession and the model’s own disgruntled expressions — which online comedians interpreted as Webb contemplating the identity of her next gentleman companion.
