Ed Sheeran Joins Forces With Christina Perri For ‘Be My Forever’

Ed Sheeran recently teamed up with singer Christina Perri for what she says is the happiest song she’s ever recorded.

The “I See Fire” singer seems to have that effect on people. When he isn’t bringing joy and sunshine into Taylor Swift’s daily life, Sheeran is helping his famous friends find love. Just ask Cougar Town star Courteney Cox if you’re curious about that last part.

Although Ed Sheeran didn’t help write the tune — Christina Perri reportedly received some assistance from Jamie Scott — his did lend his vocal abilities to the track. The singer said she always knew she had a happy song in her somewhere.

Perri told Radio.com:

“As much as I love the heart-wrenching stuff, I didn’t want to force a happy song, and I think you can always tell when a song is fake. I remember going in the studio with this guy and him looking at me and I was glowing. And I’m like, ‘I’m so sorry. I’m in love. This is going to be awful. We’re never going to write a song.”

She continued :

“I was like, ‘This has to be a duet and it has to be with Ed Sheeran. Please! He’s my number one choice and it’s all I want. It’s perfect for me and him.’ He doesn’t really sing a lot of happy songs either, so we laugh about that. It’s both of us doing the happiest song. He’s my friend, and it just felt perfect.”

Ed Sheeran and Christina Perri recorded the track in Los Angeles while the guy was on tour with Taylor Swift . Perri said the two had a wonderful time working on the song in the studio, something that is apparently evident on the finished product.

“His cousin was there and says something silly at the end of the song. I feel like we captured a moment,” Christina explained.

When he isn’t helping his friends out with their music, Ed Sheeran is extremely busy putting together his own songs. The award-winning songwriter is reportedly hard at work on another album. Sheeran recently said that Swift is pretty impressed with what she’s heard so far.

Sheeran recently spoke with MTV News :

“I’m basically going to be promoting [‘I See Fire’] up until awards season, and then as soon as awards season is done, the next album begins. Whenever I finished a song, I’d send it to her to get her opinion. She’s heard all the songs and she’s a good judge of what’s good or not good.”
