Khloe Kardashian has had a tumultuous year. It’s no secret that 2013 has definitely been a hurdle for the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star.
Now, she’s ready to put the past behind her, and ring in the new year with a fresh start. In a recent interview, Kardashian sat down with Cosmopolitan UK to speak out for the first time since she filed for divorce from LA Clippers’ star Lamar Odom.
The 29-year-old expressed that she is ‘excited’ about the new year as it is a means of starting over.
“I love the new year, new beginnings,” she said. “I need a good fresh start; I’m excited for this year to be over with…You only live once so let’s make that one time perfect. We can’t fix our mistakes and imperfections, so let’s have fun. You get what you give out in life.”
Kardashian, who’s interview will be featured in Cosmo’s February 2014 issue, will be on the cover of the magazine, E! News reports.
She’s also flaunting her stunning 30-pound weight loss, which is quite evident on the magazine’s cover image. She even spoke briefly on her about her weight loss feat, and having ‘no regrets’ for all 2013 has brought.
“My life has made me who I am at this moment and I’m very happy with who I am,” she explains. “No matter if it’s great, disgusting, beautiful or ugly; it happens and it makes you. Life is about how you process things.” She also mentioned one of her New Year resolutions for 2014.
“I’ve worked very hard on my body so I think now I can sex it up a little!” she dished to the mag. “My 2014 mission is to wear a crop top with jeans. I’ve never done that so it has to happen one day.”
As the interview went on, she began to delve into the topic of family. She spoke quite fondly of her family, also making mention of her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr, and how she projects things would be different if he were alive.
She also shared how her trying times actually brought their family even closer together. The reality TV starlet also explained how family and friends contributed to her much-needed support system as she went through her marital issues with Odom.
“It’s strange to say but I do think my family is closer because of what happened,” she explains. “If he [Robert Kardashian, Sr.] were here, we might be a little more lazy because we’d have the luxury to be that way,” she adds. “I still have his Ralph Lauren button-up shirt hanging in my closet, and I have this monkey that was his when he was a boy.”
However, the sullen conversation took an optimistic turn when the mention of Kardashian’s neice, 7-month-old North West, became the topic of discussion. She gushed about the baby and her sister Kim Kardashian and fiancé, rapper Kanye West.
“Kanye is such an awesome dad, and he’s so opinionated and passionate. North is only five-and-a-half months old but you can see she has opinions and a strong personality already,” she says. “I’m kind of nervous to see what she’s like when she’s older but I think she’ll be incredibly confident because Kim and Kanye are.”
