Sara McMann VS Ronda Rousey For UFC 170, What About Cat Zingano?
Sara McMann VS Ronda Rousey is the plan for UFC 170 after the results from UFC 168. But some may be wondering whatever happened to Cat Zingano.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, a skin cancer charity featured Ronda Rousey nude in a recent photo, and even Miesha Tate plans on getting naked again for the 2013 ESPN Body Issue.
The Women’s Bantamweight Championship bout for UFC 168 featured Rousey vs Tate, but originally Zingano was supposed to be Ronda’s opponent. Rousey wasn’t exactly gracious during her win over Tate, refusing the traditional UFC handshake at the end, and she even claimed the only reason Tate was chosen to fight her was because she has “a nice ass and an ongoing rivalry with me.”
But Cat Zingano’s injury was apparently very severe, based upon her description:
“I was jumping over tunnels that were about 12 inches high. I’d jumped over them like 10 times already. This one time, I jumped up and my left knee came down right on track and my right knee bent outward. Snap, crackle, pop, and I hit the floor. That was all she wrote. It was terrible. It hurt bad, but the thing that bothered me most was the sound. I never experienced anything like that.”
The good news is that Cat recently underwent stem cell treatment and is doing well in recovery. She’s expected to return to MMA by mid-2014, and UFC President Dana White claims she”ll be the number women’s bantamweight contender:
“She’s doing good Hopefully she stays healthy and we can get her back by summer. She’s the number one contender. Numero uno. When she’s healthy, she’ll be ready to go.”
Apparently, she’ll be “ready to go” in March when her MMA training renews.
Rousey VS McMann
Sarah McMann’s record stands at an unbeaten 7-0, and she dispatched Sheila Gaff at UFC 159, so it’s not like she’s a second-stringer. White approached Rona about fighting McMann before UFC 168 even took place, and even though the event is only weeks away in February 22, she says, “I’m ready to get back into it. I’m still hungry.”
White also hinted the winner of Rousey VS McMann would take on Cat Zingano, assuming “she can stay healthy and we can do that fight.” Speaking of health, Ronda claims Miesha didn’t injure her during UFC 168: “I was obviously not hurt or they wouldn’t be putting me in another fight so quickly.”
What are you looking forward to more; Ronda Rousey VS Sarah McMann or Rousey VS Zingano?
