Expendables 3 Teaser Features UFC Star Ronda Rousey

Expendables 3 is still months away, but fans got a sneak peak of the upcoming action movie with a new trailer that features UFC star Ronda Rousey.

The trailer shows the 15 big-name stars of the film walking in slow-motion in an airplane hanger, then turning around to face the camera. Along with Rousey are some other new members of the Expendables, including Antonio Banderas as a character named”Rapido,” Wesley Snipes as a character named “Surgeon,’ and Mel Gibson as “Conrad Stonebanks.”

Ronda Rousey seems a good pick for the Expendables 3 cast. She has become one of the most marketable stars of the UFC, appearing on the cover of ESPN the Magazine twice, including the face of the 2012 Body Issue. She already conquered television have with the UFC reality show Ultimate Fighter 18: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate. and there have been rumors of the UFC star appearing in one of the Hunger Games sequels.

The Expendables 3 teaser trailer could just be the start of Ronda Rousey’s participation in the action series. Producer Avi Lerner recently said he is interested in finding a female director for an all-female version of the series, one that could include actresses like Cameron Diaz and Meryl Streep.

“The action movie will be spectacular — and in nothing inferior to the three male movies of the The Expendables,” Lerner said of the movie, which he envisioned would be called The ExpendaBelles. “There will be battles, special and visual effects and stunts — the spectacle will be equivalent to what Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Bruce Willis and Jean-Claude Van Damme have done. Two excellent screenwriters are already working on the picture. Now we are in search of a female director.”

Fans can catch Ronda Rousey in Expendables 3 when it’s released on August 15, 2014.
