Kanye West Calls Anti-Semitism Accusations, ‘A Compliment’
You didn’t think Kanye West was going to sweep that anti-semitic comment under the rug, did you? If you thought West was going to keep quiet on this matter than prepared to be “shocked” as the “Bound 2” rapper has unleashed a few odd choice words for the Anti-Defamation League, which accused West of being anti-semitic during his press tour for “Yeezus.”
Now West is responding in the same way he got himself into this mess. During a radio interview with Chicago’s B96 radio station, West has graciously accepted the accusations, sort of, by saying that it’s an “ignorant compliment.’ In the end, West decided to chalk it up to being misconstrued.
“I don’t know how being told that you have money is like an insult. That would be like if somebody complimented black guys and said, ‘All black guys have big penises.’ You don’t want to be the black guy who raises his hand and says like, ‘That’s not true. I have proof!'”
Comments from the ADL’s National Director came after West explained his beliefs on President Obama and related his lack of connections to the gain in connections that Jewish people are apparently constantly surrounded by.
During the interview with 105.1 West explained:
“Lemme tell you something about George Bush and oil money and Obama and no money. People wanna say Obama can’t make these moves or he’s not executing that’s ’cause he ain’t got those connections. Black people don’t have the same level of connections as Jewish people!”
After Kanye West made those comments the National Director, Abraham H. Foxman released a statement to Pitchfork to discuss how West’s comments hurt the community.
“This is classic anti-Semitism. There it goes again, the age-old canard that Jews are all-powerful and control the levers of power in government. As a celebrity with a wide following, Kanye West should know better. We hope that he will take responsibility for his words, understand why they are so offensive, and apologize to those he has offended.”
Do you think Foxman’s comments are simply “ignorant compliments”?
