Selena Gomez Cancels Shows In Asia, Australia To Become A Better Person

Selena Gomez recently cancelled several shows in Australia and Asia.

Although the Spring Breakers star was originally scheduled to make several appearances in the regions early next year, reports surfaced that Gomez is currently in desperate need of a little “me” time. According to Billboard, the singer announced the cancellation of these upcoming dates on Friday (December 20).

To help ease their collective pain, Selena Gomez dropped an official statement on her legion of disappointed alongside the announcement. Although the singer gives everyone a good reason for the cancellation, chances are there are quite a few people shaking their angry fists in the air right about now.

Gomez explained:

“My fans are so important to me and I would never want to disappoint them,” comments Gomez in a statement issued by promoter Live Nation. “But it has become clear to me and those close to me that after many years of putting my work first, I need to spend some time on myself in order to be the best person I can be. To my fans, I sincerely apologize and I hope you guys know how much each and every one of you mean to me.”

AAP reports that Live Nation will fully refund tickets for those fans who’d already planned to catch Selena Gomez during her tour. Unfortunately, those unhappy individuals may not receive their money right away due to delays associated with the upcoming holidays. In other words, expect a mild insult to your musical injury.

In addition to scrapping tour dates in Australia, the singer also nixed shows in Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines. It’s currently unknown if she intends to reschedule the canceled performances in these regions at some point next year.
