A&E Blows Phil Robertson Out Of The Sky For ‘Duck Dynasty’ Star’s Anti-Gay Remarks
Imagine Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson is a big, fat, bearded water fowl cruising through the sky.
He opens his beak in an interview with GQ and is quickly sighted by the executives at A&E, the network that airs his show.
BANG!
Phil Robertson isn’t flying the friendly skies any more.
His goose is cooked.
He’s one dead duck.
That’s the story for Phil Robertson and Duck Dynasty fans after the bearded Bible-thumper unleashed a few way-too-candid remarks about homosexuality in his interview with GQ’s Drew Magary. Robertson is on “indefinite hiatus”—industry talk for suspended/fired—after his quotes about the illogic of men having sex with other men and comparing homosexuality to bestiality, alcoholism and terrorism.
“We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty,” reads the statement from the network.
“His personal views in no way reflect those of A&E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”
Phil Robertson has drawn support from loyal fans in the Facebook group “Boycott A&E Until Phil Robertson Is Put Back On Duck Dynasty,” which has rocketed past 586,000 likes since being created on Wednesday, December 18. Phil has also gotten some support from someone perhaps more known for supporting the Second Amendment than the First.
“Free speech is an endangered species. Those ‘intolerants’ hatin’ and taking on the Duck Dynasty patriarch for voicing his personal opinion are taking on all of us,” reads the support post from Sarah Palin.
The free speech Palin refers to are Phil Robertson’s GQ comments like:It seems like, to me, a vagina — as a man — would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.

On the topic of what constitutes sin:
“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men.”
What do you think of Phil Robertson’s comments? What do you think of Phil Robertson’s hiatus from Duck Dynasty?
