L.A. Noire going cheap, Xbox 360 version to use three discs
If you plan to pick up hardboiled crime epic L.A. Noire later this month for your Xbox 360/PS3/PC, you can save yourself some dough and preorder it for $45, down $15 from the usual price. That offer is at Buy.com, and I can’t see it being beaten anywhere else.
In case you’re wavering, know that Rockstar and Team Bondi are giving you a whopping game for that price. Developer John Barrera has revealed that the Xbox 360 version will be smeared across three separate discs, such is the game’s size:
“L.A. Noire was always going to be a massive game, from the size and detail of the world to the length of the cases, and of course, the sheer amount of MotionScan data required for the faces of over 400 actors in-game. To tell the story and make the game we wanted to make, we knew that it was going to take an entire single layer Blu-ray disc and three Xbox discs.”
Blimey. To put that in perspective, Rockstar’s previous hit, the rootin’-tootin’ Red Dead Redemption, used just the one Xbox 360 disc.
