Sam Jones, an actor who played a role on the hit TV series ER and also held parts on Smallville and Blue Mountain State is asking a judge to go easy on him for helping a friend sell drugs to pay off a deadly mexican drug cartel.

Jones plead guilty to the attempted sale of more than 10,000 pills of Oxycodone but told the judge that his friend convinced him that if he didn’t pay back $90,000 to a drug cartel in Mexico they would kill him.

Jones later learned that the entire sale was setup by the DEA as part of a sting operation.

The feds want Jones to spend 70 months in prison, however he says it’s an unfair sentencing since he was just trying to save the life of a friend. The drug dealer, Tom Cataloni was a childhood acquaintance.

Jones goes in front of the judge for sentencing on June 22.
