Conan Joins Justice League? Jason Momoa Rumored For ‘Batman Vs. Superman’

Jason Momoa is could be joining the cast of the follow-up to this year’s Man of Steel—working title Batman Vs. Superman—reports say.

The Hollywood Reporter made first mention of the negotiations between Jason Momoa and the Warner Bros./DC Entertainment film, with an unnamed source attached to the project dishing the details.

Momoa, title character of 2011’s Conan the Barbarian, is also known for his role as Khal Drogo, barbaric leader of the Dothraki on HBO super-hit Game of Thrones. Then there was Jason’s turn as ultra-violent mercenary Keegan, opposite Sylvester Stallone, in the gritty splash-fest that was Bullet to the Head. Suffice to say, whatever role Jason Momoa has in this flick, the character will kick some ass. But then, what character will Jason Momoa play?

Momoa stands 6’4? and it’s a tall 6’4?, giving him the type of stature and build that would make him an excellent J’onn J’onzz/Martian Manhunter. But one wonders what kind of approach, tech-wise, they’d have to take to turn Jason into J’onn; the smart way would be how the effects team behind Watchmen turned Billy Crudup into Doctor Manhattan. Really what other way would there be to make Momoa into a character whose skin is a deep shade of green and has the ability to shift not only his shape and size but also his phase of matter?

Now, that’s just the speculation if Jason Momoa wears a white hat. What about the other end of the moral spectrum? The THR piece mentions the idea of him playing the Doomsday character who “killed” Superman in the 1990s. Not everyone is in love with that idea. If it’s got to be a Big Bad, why not Darkseid? Black Adam would also be a perfect fit for Jason Momoa; he’d be great in any dark role. Want a smaller scale? Find a better Deathstroke actor than Jason Momoa (well, other than Manu Bennett on Arrow).

If the casting rumors are true, Momoa will join Henry Cavill (Superman), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman) and Laurence Fishburne (Perry White) aboard this Zack Snyder vehicle, which is shaping up to be the first Justice League movie by the looks of it.
